The activities of the As-Suwayda Short Film Festival continued this evening, at the Palace of Culture in Suwayda, with the presentation of five films with a variety of themes and directing methods.
And the screenings of the second day opened, the movie Rainy Spring, a script directed by Ahmed Khalil Ali from Egypt, and it embodies the spring of the age, who did not come in his time due to the late marriage of a woman and the feelings that this entails.
It was followed by the film Girls' Hair, directed by Omar Al-Saadi from Iraq, which deals with a humanitarian situation related to the suffering of cancer patients, especially children, especially girls, and the loss of their hair.
Followed by the movie Allash, a script and directed by Hicham El-Baz from Morocco, who in one of his reading raises the issue of rejecting the different and its psychological impact on its victims.
This was followed by the documentary film Cairo 2020, directed by Alaa Abdel Qader, which depicts aspects of daily life in the city of Cairo, with its hustle, overcrowding, diversity and beauty.
To conclude the behind-the-scenes film, scripted and directed by Osama Obaid Al-Nasser, and produced by the General Film Organization, the second day’s shows will be shown.
Organizing Committee member Samir Fleihan pointed out, in a statement to SANA reporter, that the festival has achieved success five years after its launch and its transition from the local level to the Arab one, with the efforts and ambitions of its organizers to make in its upcoming sessions an international festival on the cinematic map, which constitutes an addition to the great cultural movement in the governorate in terms of promoting Cinema culture, so that Suwayda is present and active in this field, in addition to the various literatures and arts that characterize it.
The festival, organized by the National Film and Television Production, in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture and the Film Club, will continue until next Thursday, with the participation of 22 short films from Syria and a number of Arab countries.
