United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed the need for the Russian delegation to be granted entry visas to the United States of America to participate in the General Assembly meetings in New York.
The TASS news agency quoted a spokesman for the Secretary-General of the International Organization, Stephane Dujarric, as saying: “This is an issue that we have discussed several times with the host, the United States, where the Secretary-General considered that visas should be granted to the Russian delegation and other delegations that have business in the United Nations, especially during the General Assembly.” .
"This is a question that the Secretary-General has raised several times in phone calls with senior US officials," Dujarric added.
The Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, had earlier confirmed that the issuance of US visas for delegations of foreign countries to the United Nations is an international responsibility of Washington.
