(CNN Spanish) --

This Tuesday, the president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, made a cabinet adjustment amid criticism for the results of this Sunday's plebiscite, where the "rejection" option was imposed on the proposal for a new Constitution with 61.86%.

In total, there were changes in 6 ministries:

In the Ministry of the Interior, Izkia Siches left the portfolio and Carolina Tohá, former minister of Michelle Bachelet in her first government and former mayor of Santiago, took over.

In the General Secretariat of the Presidency (Segpres) there was a castling: Giorgio Jackson, founder of the Broad Front coalition together with Boric, went on to direct the Ministry of Social Development.

The former chief of staff of Michelle Bachelet in her second period, Ana Lya Uriarte, took over at Segpres to replace Jackson.

In the Ministry of Health, Ximena Aguilera replaced María Begoña Yarza.

In the Ministry of Science, Flavio Salazar left the portfolio and in his place Silvia Díaz assumed.

At the Ministry of Energy, Claudio Huepe left his post and was replaced by Diego Pardow, who until today was an advisor at the Palacio de La Moneda.

  • What is the scenario for Boric after the rejection of the new Constitution and what is next for Chileans?

From the Government House, Gabriel Boric indicated: “I want you to know that I am making this cabinet change with our country in mind.

Cabinet changes are always dramatic in Chile, and this one has not lacked its dose.

It had to hurt and it hurts, but it's necessary."

"It is perhaps, I think I have no reason to hide it, one of the most politically difficult moments that I have had to face and we will move forward together, for Chilean men and women, and for Chile," he concluded.
