Heinrich Maiwert, longtime municipal councilor and chairman of SV Bad Heilbrunn, passed away at the age of 98.

He stayed with the club until his death.

Bad Heilbrunn – He led the sports club (SV) Bad Heilbrunn as first chairman through a difficult time and was significantly involved in the construction of today's sports center.

Now the native Westphalian Heinrich Maiwert, who was just called "Heinz" by everyone, has died at the age of 98.

He remained closely associated with the club until his death.

His positive charisma and serious demeanor opened many doors

"Heinz was a stroke of luck for the club," recalls today's SV chairman Robert Rieker.

Because Maiwert worked for many years as a municipal councilor in Bad Heilbrunn and also worked as an authorized officer at the Moralt company in Bad Tölz, he had “the best contacts in the entire district”, says Rieker.

His always positive charisma and serious demeanor would have opened many doors for the deceased.

"His perseverance, linguistic fluency and pronounced negotiating skills led to special results for the sports club."

He remained connected to SV Bad Heilbrunn until his death

Maiwert had been a member of the SV since 1971 – and remained so until his death.

In 1978, the father of four took over the post of chairman for four years and was then vice chairman for many years.

"During his tenure, the first club flag was dedicated and the 'Bad Heilbrunner Sport News' was launched, which was then published annually," reports Rieker.

To support youth work, a club bus was purchased for the first time under Maiwert's leadership.

And in Maiwert's garage in his house in Bad Heilbrunn, the Heilbrunn flea market, which later became known throughout the Oberland, was created.

The sports center was built under his leadership

The biggest milestone under the leadership of Heinz Maiwert was the construction of the sports center in Bad Heilbrunn based on plans by Ingo Stoffel.

Since the inauguration in 1980, the Heilbrunner athletes have had their home at Schacherweg 5. Maiwert was made an honorary member for his services to the club.

“Heinz was always a thoroughbred athlete at heart and kept that up into old age,” says Rieker.

“He left the house beaming every morning”

His wife Heidi Maiwert recalls that her husband always felt very comfortable in Bad Heilbrunn, where he lived, and in Bad Tölz, where he worked.

"He walked out of the house beaming every morning with his briefcase under his arm."

At the end of the 1990s, the Maiwert family moved from Bad Heilbrunn to Weilheim and eleven years later to Bad Wörishofen (Unterallgäu district).

But even after he left, Heinrich Maiwert remained connected to the SV.

At the age of 95, Rieker recalls, he traveled to the SV 60th anniversary celebration in 2019.
