While the whole world is still in shock at the death of Elizabeth II, who died this Thursday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, several leaders paid tribute to her.
“Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II embodied the continuity and unity of the British nation for more than 70 years.
I keep the memory of a friend of France, a queen of hearts who forever marked her country and her century, ”wrote Emmanuel Macron, on his Twitter account, accompanying his message with a photo of the smiling sovereign.

US President Joe Biden was also one of the first to react, indicating that his thoughts were with "the family" and "the people of the United Kingdom", according to the spokesperson for the White House.
During an interview that same day with several leaders including British Prime Minister Liz Truss, the tenant of the White House had informed the latter that he "thought a lot of the Queen and the people of the United Kingdom", according to White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.
The thoughts of Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, also accompany the sovereign.
“Once known as Elizabeth the Steadfast, she never failed to show us the importance of enduring values in a modern world with her service and commitment,” added the Belgian leader.
