The queen, whose state of health worries those close to her, had met Liz Truss on Tuesday, in order to appoint her to the head of a new government

The meeting, with Liz Truss, had only been immortalized by a few photos.

It was the last time the British people had seen their Queen, Elizabeth II, since her doctors announced their "concern" about her health.

They “recommended that she be placed under medical supervision,” Buckingham Palace said on Thursday, as her family came to her bedside.

“The Queen received in audience” MP Liz Truss “and demanded that she form a new government,” the monarch's services announced on Tuesday, moments after posting a photo of the Queen with a cane, wearing a skirt in tartan and cardigan, shaking hands – a black-stained hand – with the one who would then become the 15th Prime Minister of his 70-year reign.

Boris Johnson had preceded Liz Truss moments earlier to tender his resignation.

The handover took place at Balmoral, not Buckingham Palace in London as is traditional, due to mobility issues for the 96-year-old Queen.

The queen had also canceled her participation in a videoconference on Wednesday because of her state of health.

"Following a further assessment this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended that she remains under medical supervision.

The Queen continues to feel comfortable and remains at Balmoral,” the palace said in a brief statement on Thursday.
