The United States pays tribute to Elizabeth II
The American flag which flies above the White House was lowered to half-mast in tribute to Elizabeth II Thursday, September 8 in the afternoon at the announcement of her death.
The same measure was taken on all public buildings in Washington and throughout the United States, as well as on American embassies and ships around the world.
This rare tribute to a foreign head of state was ordered by Joe Biden, who saluted the memory of the sovereign, whom he had met for the first time when he was a senator in 1982.

,” Trump said in a statement.
