Nasa wants to start a new attempt for its moon mission "Artemis".

Testing could start as early as September if everything goes according to plan.

Cape Canaveral - Nasa had long announced its new moon mission "Artemis 1", but a week ago two launch attempts to get back to the moon for the first time since Apollo 17 failed.

Now NASA has announced a new test start for the journey to the moon - this should take place in September.

Nasa announces new lunar mission attempt for late September

As NASA announced at a press conference on Thursday, it is currently planning to carry out a new test launch for the moon mission on September 23rd or 27th.

Before that, it was still planned to carry out a test refueling on September 17th.

According to the US space agency, the dates are not final and could possibly be postponed again.

Until now, the mission to get back to the moon has encountered increasing problems.

Just last week, for example, a start failed due to a leaking tank hose.

The mission was already difficult to carry out beforehand and had been delayed due to problems with testing.

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has now captured a new view of Jupiter - with remarkable detail.

"Artemis" project from Nasa - New lunar suits already ordered

The name "Artemis" of the project comes from the Greek goddess of the moon.

NASA's plan was to send US astronauts to the moon again for the first time by 2024.

This time, a woman and a non-white person are said to be among the astronauts.

For the mission, the US space agency has already ordered special suits from a US company that sent four amateur astronauts to the ISS space station in April.

The order for the suits is said to have cost around 229 million dollars.

The investment seemed necessary because the current space suits used by NASA astronauts are many years old and caused problems with problems.

For example, water collected in helmets during field missions, which also affected a German astronaut.
