Three people died when a helicopter crashed during a Taliban military exercise in the Afghan capital Kabul.
The Taliban Ministry of Defense said five other people were injured.
According to the report, the helicopter was an American Black Hawk that crashed on the campus of the National Defense University because of "a technical problem".
It's been a little over a year since the fall of Kabul.
After the US military withdrew from Afghanistan, the militant Islamist Taliban took power.
The West had invested billions in training and equipment for Afghan troops, which simply collapsed.
Taliban take over US military equipment
The Taliban took over the military equipment left behind by the US forces, including helicopters.
It's unclear how much of it is functional.
The US military intentionally destroyed some of its equipment to prevent it from falling into Taliban hands or becoming unusable.
At that time, pilots trained in the USA fled abroad with the US soldiers.
But not all.
In August, one of the Afghan pilots told the BBC that he remained in the country after the Taliban took power, despite offers of American help.
West Point-trained Mohammad Edris Momand said that on the day Kabul fell, he flew his Black Hawk helicopter to his home village in Afghanistan, rather than to Uzbekistan as instructed.
Today he flies in the service of the Taliban.
