The children’s exhibition “Shaghaf 8” represented a state of joy, beauty and experimentation through its artworks, which were embodied by the hands of 85 talented children and adolescents. It was shown this evening at the Blue House Gallery in Damascus.

The exhibition included more than 90 artworks that varied between sculpture, drawing, colgraph, and architecture for children, with multiple techniques and many topics, all of which reflected the visions of the promising talents for life and the skills they acquired that refined their skills in the studio.

Regarding the exhibition, plastic artist Reem Al-Hayek, director of Shaghaf studio, said in a statement to SANA reporter: “We used to hold an exhibition every year for the students of our studio, choosing a unique idea each time. We left the participants the freedom to choose topics and techniques to express their own visions.”

During the opening of the exhibition, a short film was shown that included the views of the adult studio students about their experience in learning the arts, to allow the younger students to benefit from these experiences.

Plastic artist Rawan Odeh, one of the studio teachers, explained that the studio teachers direct the students impartially without affecting their own artistic tastes or imaginations, while always adopting dialogue to develop ideas, pointing out that this year they worked with young people on a new experience through the application of the colgraph technique, which is one of the techniques of engraving art And printing in a simplified way to come up with distinctive results for their ages.

For his part, Samer Al-Eid, director of the Blue House Gallery, pointed out that the exhibition is the second for children this year in the gallery, with the aim of shedding light on the distinguished and promising talents to encourage them and take their hand so that the public can get to know them and what they gain from training and refining their skills in the ceremonies concerned with developing children's talents in an academic way.

The child, Naya Moghrebel, drew a painting using the technique of collage, representing a table with a spoon, a knife, and several other things. The child, Maya Ismail, “9 years old”, chose the ocean, fish and jellyfish as a subject for her painting, using the collage technique as well.

The 8-year-old child, Taj Othman, chose to present a geometric model consisting of a maquette for a house drawn on a horse, while 12-year-old Judy Hajli presented her painting using collage technique, embodied a dress inspired by a piece of tissue paper wet with colors. She pointed out that she learned during her studies in the studio that the artist is inspired by his works. Beautiful than anything around it.

The 6-year-old child, Nabil Al-Esh, painted mushrooms with watercolors, so that the child Fares of the same age chose reptiles as a subject for his painting, expressing their happiness to participate in the exhibition after two years of studying in the studio.

As for the two sisters, Cepsa, 17, and Najan, 14, their participation came with two colgraphs, expressing their happiness at trying this new technology on them and presenting their paintings to the public in this exhibition.
