Every idea has a beginning.. and the beginning of my idea is “birth.” This is how the melodious melodies mixed with expressive images sounded on the drama stage at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts in a musical evening by the works of the great academic musician Marwan Abu Jahjah, entitled “Audible Ideas.”

The evening, which was revived by the Marton Trio trio, was attended by Marwan Abu Jahjah on the viola, Razan Kassar on the violin, and Aghid Mansour on the piano. The birth was the first work done within the project of musical compositions for the works of the musician Abu Jahjah, which he wrote specifically for this group and presented today for the first time to the public.

Abu Jahjah explained in a statement to SANA that he shares his ideas with the audience through this presentation with fourteen ideas translated into a smooth musical language that ensures that they reach the largest segment of the receiving audience. Various techniques were used in distribution to add the largest number of vocal colors to the presented works.

And he indicated that the idea of the work originated in 2020, when the quarantine period allowed him to recall his accumulated melodic repertoire during his long years of work and formulate it in the form of special compositions that are embodied in these works through some ideas that any person may have, ranging in mood between intense sadness and deep meditation and between joy and recreation. about self.

Abu Jahjah gives each work a space of contemplation in front of each listener, where he can link what he hears and sees on the one hand, and his own human reservoir on the other hand, so that his feelings move in directions that may meet with the author in one work and may differ with him in another work.

The story began with two machines.. It was still the title of the second piece after birth, in which Abu Jahjah was alone on the viola to draw calm and romantic tranquility on the atmosphere of the opera house with pictures of small lights scattered on the screen, written in a scale du minor, to form the hero of the work.

The violin embraced the viola in a young artistic painting in which the melodies intertwine with the bright sunlight and the warm moonlight, announcing the beginning of nostalgia in the piece “Sun and Moon” in which the three instruments exchanged melodies written in a C Minor scale.

Then, the smoke, distinguished by the similarity of things, filled with deep sadness, floating on the strings of hope drowning in the soft dark in the piece “Dukhan” written in the chord of irrigation, and the three instruments alternate to present the idea, according to Abu Jahjah, the author of the work.

He continued the explanation for the rest of the pieces, where he said: Keep moving, a vital work written with the ladder “La Major” to express getting up after stumbling and continuing the movement towards salvation. .

Also among the works is “The River” composed of two melodic phrases. The two stringed instruments alternate in their width and the smooth piano prepares for their flow. It is written in the stair du menor. As for Braille, it is a pause for invocation and supplication, where the melody begins to appear individually in sequence, then the sounds of the three instruments gradually overlap to form a harmonious chorus in the end.

Then comes the piece “Happiness”, where the piano starred in it, whose sound and sweetness give us a feeling of optimism and hope, where the piano plays the melodies and then shares the strings with it, written in La Minor scale.

In turn, Razan Kassar, a violinist at the Higher Institute of Music and the Salhi Wadi Institute, the first player in the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra and in the Marie Orchestra, and a violinist in many bands stressed the importance of this evening, expressing her happiness with this unique participation.

The musician, Aghid Mansour, head of the piano department at the Higher Institute of Music and a teacher for many courses at the institute, and the organ maintenance expert in Syria and the Middle East, pointed out that the evening was fun and was a challenge for him because the piano takes more roles than the solo instruments, and this requires accuracy in performance.

The musical performance was accompanied by a visual presentation that gave the audience a chance to see the scenery behind each work through his own perspective.

It is worth mentioning that Marwan Abu Jahjah was born in Budapest in 1972, a graduate of the Higher Institute of Music in Damascus, a viola teacher at the Higher Institute and the Salhi Al-Wadi Institute, head of the chamber music department at the Higher Institute of Music between 2004 and 2011, the deputy of the Higher Institute of Music since 2011, and a viola player in the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra. He participated in many international orchestras and was a violinist and viola player with many bands.
