A series of arrests in Iran of suspects in an assassination attributed to Israel:

The Reuters news agency reported today (Tuesday) that the authorities in Iran have arrested several people on suspicion of involvement in the assassination of Revolutionary Guards Colonel Hassan Siad Khodai last May.

As you may remember, the assassination of Khodai took place in the heart of Tehran by two gunmen who fired five bullets at him when he arrived at his home in his car.

An eyewitness to the shooting told the Fars news agency: "A few minutes before the shooting, I saw a car that blocked the entrance to the alley and did not allow anyone to pass. Cars had to bypass the street where the shooting took place."

A neighbor who lives nearby said: "When I heard the shooting, I turned around and saw one of the shooters, I was standing on a nearby roof and saw everything."

Another eyewitness told the news agency that he heard a shot that sounded to him like a gas tank explosion in the alley and that he was not aware that it was a shot.

"I continued walking down the alley and found the martyr dying in his car," said the eyewitness.

The statements of the eyewitnesses conclude in the news agency that the assassins blocked the entrance to the street using another car and used silencers.

The senior officer was described in the Iranian media as the "protector of the boycott", a phrase that refers to members of the Revolutionary Guards who carried out operations in Syria and Iraq.

This is also how the two Revolutionary Guards officers who were killed in Syria in an attack attributed to Israel were described in foreign publications in March.

The assassination of the top official in Tehran falls into a familiar pattern of bloody assassinations aimed at regime officials, the Revolutionary Guards and nuclear scientists in the Islamic Republic and carried out, according to foreign sources, by local resistance activists who were guided and armed by the Mossad or Israel.

The use of motorcycles and ambushing the exterminated outside their homes, a tactic designed to prevent a last-minute change of heart by the victim, was carried out several times.

In 2007, Mahmoud Alimohammadi was killed by an explosive device attached to his car by motorcyclists while leaving his home.

Majid Sharhiari, a senior scientist at Shahid Bashari University was killed by a bomb thrown from a motorcycle in 2010.
