The National House of Books Theater in Aleppo hosted an artistic ceremony on the occasion of the sixty-third anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Society for Literature and Arts, which was held in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture with the participation of the Aleppo National Choir led by the artist Ahmed Khayyat, and the association’s musical group.

The Director of the National Library, Muhammad Hegazy, said in a statement to SANA reporter, that the United Arab Association for Literature and Arts presented many qualitative activities and events related to arts and literature of all kinds, in addition to presenting models for expatriate national personalities, which had an impact in the field of thought and literature.

The Vice-President of the Society, Reem Hariri, explained that it was founded in 1959 and has a variety of cultural activities that support talents and take them to the path of excellence and creativity, in addition to being a literary forum for thinkers, poets, writers and critics in Aleppo and contributed to supporting the intellectual and cultural heritage in the province.

A member of the association’s board of directors, artist Ahmed Khayyat, trainer of the Aleppo National Choir, spoke about the importance of this celebration, which aims to revive the Aleppo lyrical heritage, and present it in its correct form, which contributes to the protection of this heritage.

The artist Kamel Qabbani, one of the cadres of the Lyrical Society, pointed out the interest of the Aleppo audience in the authentic heritage, especially the artistic, which encourages the presentation of original art through heritage activities and celebrations that include the ancient Syrian, Egyptian and Iraqi heritage.

This was confirmed by the singer Zahid Bayrakdar, indicating the importance of the cultural heritage message carried by the association, while the artist and sculptor Abdul Qader Manafikhi, one of the old members of the association, drew attention to his presence, more than 30 years ago, to provide all kinds of arts and train young groups in drawing and sculpture in addition to singing and playing.
