Prince Harry, pop star Elton John and other British celebrities have filed lawsuits against the publishers of the "Mail on Sunday" and "Daily Mail".
London – Prominent personalities, including Prince Harry (38), pop star Sir Elton John (75), his partner David Furnish (59) and the actresses Elizabeth Hurley (57) and Sadie Frost (57) have joined forces in a kind of star class action lawsuit .
What they all have in common is the assumption that they have been hacked.
The law firm Hamlins said in a statement on behalf of the Duke of Sussex and the British singer that they had become aware of the invasion of their privacy.
Prince Harry and the stars suspect that they have become victims of data theft and eavesdropping
The legal action is directed against the newspaper publisher "Associated Newspapers", which publishes the "Daily Mail" and "Mail on Sunday".
There
is "overwhelming and extremely disturbing evidence that they [the plaintiffs] have been victims of prolific criminal activity and gross invasions of privacy,"
reports the PA news agency.
The law firm speaks of
private detectives who worked on behalf of the publisher, of eavesdropping in cars and private apartments.
Health and financial data were also acquired illegally, and police officers were paid

The defendant publisher, "Associated Newspapers Limited" (ANL) vehemently defended itself and dismissed the "grotesque allegations" as a planned and staged attempt to draw the "mail titles" into the wiretapping scandal.
Articles up to 30 years old would probably be affected.
Connection to the media scandal surrounding Rupert Murdoch's "News of the World" not excluded
The British tabloid News of the World tapped the cell phones of celebrities and ordinary citizens for several years in order to obtain exclusive information.
Media mogul Rupert Murdoch took the consequences and shut down the paper in 2011.
But the scandal spread widely and shook the British media landscape.
The ANL were a competing company of the Murdoch group.
These are "unsubstantiated and highly defamatory allegations"
Now it is statement against statement.
The statement said Prince Harry's group wanted to uncover the truth and hold journalists accountable.
Again and again "Dailymail" reported on Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry and often did not leave good hair on the Californians by choice, especially since the Sussexes have retired from active service as senior royals.

There are countless examples of this, the backgrounds of which all have to be worked out.
The publisher should do everything possible to prevent this.
The credibility of reports such as "Private jet has to wait: Prince Harry forgets his polo set" would be irrevocably gone.
