Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree authorizing the Russian Federal Security Service to tighten protection measures for the Crimean bridge, power lines and gas pipelines connecting Crimea with the Krasnodar Territory.

“I authorize the Russian Federal Security Service to organize and coordinate necessary measures to protect transport across the Crimean Bridge, power lines and the main gas pipeline between Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory,” the decree, cited by TASS news agency, said.

The Crimean Bridge was subjected to a terrorist bombing today with a truck bomb, which led to the breakdown of a lane in it and the burning of a fuel train, and the death of 3 people who were in a car near the truck when it exploded.

The Russian Ministry of Transport announced the resumption of traffic on the proper lanes of the Crimean Bridge, while the Crimean Railways Authority announced the crossing of the first 15-car train on the Crimean Railway after resuming traffic on it.

In turn, the President of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, announced the resumption of the movement of cars and trains across the bridge with limited capacity until the completion of its restoration.

In a related context, former Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov admitted that he had prior knowledge of the bombing.

Avakov published a video on September 4, in which he said: “The ruins of the Crimean Bridge will be of great beauty.”
