The PA is under pressure: Palestinian militants call on the Nablus crowd to take to the streets and get the governor fired | Israel today

Following Ibrahim Ramadan's unusual statement that the mothers of the "martyrs" are deviant, the "Lion's Den" group threatened to start street protests if he was not fired.

Already in the first moments after Nablus Governor Ibrahim Ramadan's extraordinary statement on Tuesday, that the mothers of the "martyrs" who send their sons to die in terrorist attacks against Israel are "perverts", it was clear that the governor is entangling himself in a problem from which there is almost no way out.

After the shock and fury from his words, there were calls for his dismissal.

This demand was raised, among others, by the "Erin Alasud" ("Lion's Den") groups.

However, the organizing activists were not satisfied with this, and threatened to start street protests and organize large demonstrations and processions in Nablus, Jenin, and other cities in Judea and Samaria after Friday prayers in the mosques.

When the senior officials of the Authority saw the people of "Erin Alasud" in the field calling for a crowd to gather at the entrances of the villages in northern Samaria and burn tires, they realized that the armed men had the potential and ability to mobilize the street and tried to do everything to prevent this.

In Ramallah, they feared that large demonstrations surrounding the governor's statements could strengthen the power of the armed militias and convey to the Palestinian public that they are the ruling leadership on the ground.

According to a Palestinian source, the Palestinian Authority conducted negotiations with the representatives of the militants in the last day and asked them to extend it, during which there would be an effort to find a solution to the floundering, and in return the people of the organization would freeze their plan to take a protest to the streets.

Very senior figures in the Fatah movement and the Islamic Jihad organization took part in the mediation efforts.

Israel Hayom also learned that the Authority even tried to recruit one of the fathers of the prominent wanted men who were recently killed in action with the IDF, and asked him to intervene in order to convince the Gov Aryot militants to "calm down" and reject their intention to spread calls for demonstrations. The father refused.

Within Fatah, there is a camp that opposes the dismissal of the governor on the grounds that this step will be portrayed as a surrender to the street militants. The one who leads this position is the head of general intelligence, Majed Faraj, and senior officials. On the other hand, Fatah sources who support the governor's dismissal, claimed that Faraj Acts from personal motives since his wife is the sister of the Nablus governor, Abraham Ramadan.

Either way, the pressure is on.

Even if the chairman of the authority, Abu Mazen, announces the dismissal of Ramadan while transferring him to another position, it is likely that there will be criticism that the governor allegedly received a "reward for his behavior"

. , but the fact that he personally, openly and blatantly attacked the mothers of the "martyrs", the Palestinian terrorists, is quite unusual.
