At least 22 people died and 52 are missing after a landslide caused by torrential rains in Las Tejerías, a city in the state of Aragua in Venezuela, confirmed the vice president, Delcy Rodríguez.
“Five streams overflowed
and we are seeing very important effects.
Human casualties.
So far we have found 22 dead people and there are 52 missing people," said Rodríguez during a visit to the disaster area.
The vice president assured that among the fatalities there are children and adolescents, although she did not offer how many.
Heavy rains in the region began in the afternoon hours on Saturday and continued into the night.
