Hurricane Julia made landfall near Laguna de Perla in Nicaragua today.
And Reuters news agency quoted the American Hurricane Center as saying: The hurricane was 50 kilometers northeast of Bluefields, with winds of 140 kilometers per hour.
Tropical Storm Julia turned into a hurricane last night, when it passed the Colombian island of San Andres on its way toward the coast of Nicaragua.
The center predicted the occurrence of floods and mudslides that pose a threat to life, as a result of heavy rains over Central America and southern Mexico, and are expected until tomorrow, Monday.
Hurricane Julia is likely to move north along the Pacific coasts of Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala on Sunday and Monday, and may cause flash floods in southern Mexico in the coming days.
