Gaißach – The construction of the new kindergarten in Obergries is progressing.

The community is content with the status quo.

Before the most recent municipal council meeting, the mayor and municipal council got an idea of the second construction phase of the Gaißacher kindergarten.

The head of the town hall, Stefan Fadinger, expressed his satisfaction with the construction progress and the work of the predominantly local craftsmen.

The estimated costs of the kindergarten in Obergrieß of 4.2 million euros will probably become more expensive

All main trades have already been advertised and assigned.

The heating, electrics and windows are finished, making the building winterproof.

The building is currently being plastered so that the scaffolding can also be dismantled before winter.

Fadinger emphasized that despite the known imponderables, such as rising energy and material costs and delivery difficulties, the cost development would still be more or less within the scope of the estimate.

"The planned costs of 4.2 million euros, which are subsidized with almost 1.9 million euros from funds from the Free State, can probably not be fully met."

The new construction phase I in 2020 and 2021 in the south of the facility for two care groups and the delayed construction phase II from the end of 2021 to around June 2023 ensure that the kindergarten can continue to operate without any interruption.

After the completion of construction phase I, the eastern half of the old building was partially demolished and replaced with a new building (we reported).

It is connected to the southern new building on the level of the upper floor with a covered passageway.

A second crèche group and a dining room for lunchtime care are housed in the preserved western part of the old building, while three kindergarten group rooms are planned for the eastern part of the new building.

When completed, the facility will then offer space for five kindergarten groups and two crèche groups, one more than before.

Social living space will also be created on the top floor of the northern old building and replacement new building.
