Iran: growing fear of the army joining the hijab protest Israel today

2022-10-17T20:12:40.669Z

One month of protest • Officers at one of the bases refused to participate in the march and were arrested • An Air Force source: "Recently they began transferring friendly staff members to separate bases, dismissals of officers who are not trusted are expected"

The protests in Iran have been going on for a month, a sign that they will subside and go away, and now a new problem is developing in the Ayatollah regime: unrest within the army.

In Iran, there have already been protests within the army, and one took place just the other day at the Shahid Harzai training base.

During the daily morning ceremonies, several officers and instructors refused to participate in the march and were arrested.

Following the rising unrest, the Chief of Staff, under the guidance of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, ordered a series of preventive measures to be taken. Participated in protests in 2019." According to the source, "There are clear differences of opinion between commanders in the Air Force.

This is not a good situation.

Furthermore, several officers whose views do not coincide with those of Corps Commander Hamid Wahadi will soon be transferred from their positions.

There is a lot of pressure on everyone."

"will refuse an order"

The source estimates that in the long term the measures will not be able to prevent those wearing the uniform from joining a public protest to overthrow the regime.

Despite the strict control measures on the lives of those serving in the army and the lives of their families, one can expect them to join the protest.

It is believed that this will not take the form of a coup, but of a refusal to follow orders.

According to sources in Iran, until now the pilots in the air force had more courage to demonstrate their position compared to other forces.

The reason: it is much more difficult to find replacements for them.

Iran's air forces, from Cobra helicopter pilots of the army's air force to fighter pilots in the air force, have always been reluctant to support the brutal suppression of the protests in the country, but to date there have been no reports of their physical participation in the demonstrations - which could be explained by restrictions on their movement outside the bases.

More than a month has passed since the protest began in Iran, the likes of which have not been seen in the 43 years of the Islamic Republic.

The demonstrations swept all avenues of the population - workers, the rich, students and schoolgirls, artists, athletes and shop owners.

In contrast to the 2017-2019 protests, which were sparked mainly on economic grounds, the current protest is a response to the murder of a young woman named Mehsa Amini in particular and to the inhumane laws of the Iranian regime in general.

At least 229 protesters, including 29 children, were killed in the protest, most of them by live fire.

"Unfathomable spectacle"

Many in Iran emphasize that the goal of the protest is the overthrow of the existing regime - a revolution whose success date is unpredictable not only to the author of these lines, but also to other commentators.

The inability to anticipate the development of the current protest denied Iran's rulers the ability to end it, and as evidenced, despite the deployment of various police forces, units of the Basij militia and even special units of the Revolutionary Guards were unable to stop the flood.

One of the reasons for this is the geographical dispersion of the protest throughout Iran and within its cities: they start not in central places but in neighborhoods, and spontaneously, a pattern that surprises the security mechanisms time and time again.

"Naziavd district is a paradise for protesters and hell for Basij," says a resident of the poor district in southern Tehran, "What I saw here is unimaginable. People move through the streets like a river and the oppressive forces do not dare to enter here. If the residents start demonstrating like this in other neighborhoods of Tehran, soon We will celebrate our freedom."
