"Enthusiastic like children": MHS will fight the "gun games" in the police | Israel Hayom

The organization changes its policy regarding the dangerous phenomenon and moves to the criminal level • A senior member of the Mashash: "If the commanders had stopped this, there would be fewer funerals" • In the last two months, three indictments have been filed

The Department of Police Investigation strongly criticizes the forgiving attitude of the police to policemen caught playing with weapons.

In light of the culture of cases, it was decided to move to the criminal level in the police department. "Policemen play with a gun like children who are excited about a new iPhone.

If the commanders had stopped these infantile games, there would have been fewer funerals," a senior member of the Mashash told Israel Hayom.

These days, the trial of Afik Toibi, a police officer of the police, is being held. Toibi is accused of murder with indifference of the late Naim Madi, who was his roommate.

The indictment shows Dusty pulled out his gun to play with.

At one point, Toybi pointed the gun at the head of Naim who was lying in his bed, told him "look" and pulled the trigger.

As a result, a bullet was fired that injured Maddy and led to his death.

"No one in the chain of command said anything. More than 30 people were silent. Some were afraid and some did not want to be 'informants.' Evil is an incredible value, but it must stop when someone is covering up a crime. For three months he used to take out his weapon every day, to stick to someone's back or step on without a cartridge, but they didn't report it. When the bullet came out - it was already too late," said the senior.

In the police department, the spotlight is directed at police officers who are assigned to serve in units that deal with disturbances or serious crime.

"It has to do with machoism, the young people are terribly enthusiastic," the official told Israel Hayom.

"Our perception is that every game with a weapon is equivalent to a funeral."

In the past two months, the National Police Service filed three indictments for playing with weapons: a trainee at the National Police College who brandished a weapon and pointed it at his friend; a rookie at the MGB base who pointed an M16 at another rookie;

And a detective in Baqa al-Gharbia who pointed a gun near his friend.

Attorney Ronen Yitzhak, who represents Mahesh, says that in such cases a "policy of zero patience" is needed.

"Only increasing enforcement and creating deterrence, along with preventive and informational actions, will reduce the phenomenon to a minimum and prevent injury to the body and unnecessary loss of life," notes the director of the criminal department at the Criminal Investigation Department.

"There were cases that went to command treatment, but it didn't help," says the MoH. The MoH hopes that the courts will also mobilize to strengthen deterrence and admit that there is currently no adequacy in the punishment.

"hardware handling"

The police said in response: "Mahsh transferred to the police disciplinary department for handling several cases concerning duty policemen who were charged with the offenses of playing with weapons.

These cases were dealt with severely, they were returned to the IDF and are no longer among the ranks of the police."
