Behind its forms of adventurer celebrating the twenty-five years of the 4L Trophy, the study of the "Quatrelle" exhibited this week on the stand of the manufacturer, at the Porte de Versailles, prefigures an electric SUV of the segment B launched in 2025 and produced in the Maubeuge plant, in the North.
Developed, like the next R5, on the CMF-BEV platform dedicated to compact electric vehicles, the 4L of the 21st century will aim to repeat the trick of its ancestor nicknamed the blue-jean car, because of its ability to make all the services.
Gilles Vidal told us: the production car will be very close to the concept which is 4.16 meters long.
"You remove the sills and you have the line of the future electric 4L
," the Renault design boss told us.
From its predecessor, the next 4L takes up the main stylistic attributes: the horizontal grille, the round headlamps, the capsule-shaped taillights and the trapezium-shaped rear quarter window.
Its technology is not yet known, but the 4Ever Trophy houses a 100 kW (136 hp) wound-rotor electric machine powered by a 42 kWh battery.
