The Prime Minister's Office in Britain announced the appointment of Grant Shapps as the new Minister of the Interior, at the height of a crisis of confidence in Prime Minister Liz Terrace.
Reuters quoted the British Prime Minister's office as saying in a statement: "Former Transport Minister Grant Shapps has been appointed as Home Secretary to replace Suella Braverman, who resigned earlier today."
Under political and economic pressure, Terrace sacked Kwasi Quarting last week as Treasury Secretary and was replaced by Jeremy Hunt.
