Murals of various themes and colors were created by a number of artists and graduates of the Fine Arts Center, to decorate the walls of the center's headquarters, and add an aesthetic touch full of life to the white spaces in the city of Lattakia.
The historical, tourist and heritage landmarks of Syria in general, and Lattakia Governorate in particular, had the largest share in the workshop, which lasted for three days, in conjunction with the activities of the Syrian Plastic Art Days in its fifth season, along with plant decorations and expressive drawings, which in all reflected the creative spirit of the participants, their visions and experiences, and the diversity and richness witnessed by it. Fine movement in the province.
In a statement to SANA, the director of the center, Ilham Naasan Agha, explained that the center constitutes an incubator for the development of artistic talents, starting from learning the basics of drawing, leading to professionalism, whether through theoretical and practical lectures, workshops, art library, educational trips, and annual exhibitions, which are an opportunity to present their creative products to an audience that tastes Beauty and see it.
She indicated that the participants in the workshop learned about a new technique that would add value to their experience in the world of painting and move from painting to murals and take advantage of large areas.
The general coordinator of the Directorate of Culture in Lattakia, the plastic artist, Abdullah Khaddam, pointed out the importance of cultural events and interactive seminars in highlighting talents and exchanging experiences to serve the fine movement in Syria.
He pointed out that the murals give the artist more space to unleash his creativity and highlight his abilities and capabilities in terms of choosing the subject and studying the dimensions accurately, so that the final result is satisfactory and meets the aspirations.
Plastic artist Adawiya Diop, one of the center's teachers, indicated that the workshop was preceded by a rich and interactive discussion, after which the students were divided into working groups who tried to unanimously agree on a certain idea and apply it to a specific area. Paintings by international artists, and some were alone in trying to create a special idea.
She pointed out that this new technology for the majority contributes to opening broad horizons and motivating them to choose the path they prefer.
The young woman, Nouran Abbas, a university student from the Faculty of Pharmacy, indicated that her hobby was drawing since childhood, and that her registration in the center aims to develop this talent according to the correct techniques and artistic methods, noting that she participated in a mural of the historic Palmyra Gate, which lasted three days of continuous work.
The plastic artist Zainab Hassan spoke about her beginnings in the world of painting since 2002 and her passion for oil colors, explaining that it was the first time she experienced painting on walls and using acrylic colors, and it was a wonderful opportunity in terms of freedom in choosing the idea and implementation, and promoting the spirit of teamwork.
