The people of Hausham have said goodbye: hundreds of citizens and companions have come to the funeral service for the late former mayor Hugo Schreiber.

Hausham

– The urn with the ashes of former mayor Hugo Schreiber stood on the Antonius column in front of the Hausham parish church of St. Anton for three quarters of an hour.

So every citizen had the opportunity to say goodbye to the former mayor of the town hall who died at the age of 73.

Although the people of Hausham came in droves despite the appointment on Friday morning, there was a reverent silence on the forecourt, reports Mayor Jens Zangenfeind.

"You could feel the pain of loss."

Flag delegations of the local associations in the chancel

Many of them then also took part in the funeral service in St. Anton.

Almost all local associations had taken up positions with flag delegations in the sanctuary.

"You saw how deeply rooted Hugo Schreiber was in club life," said Zangenfeind.

Many companions from local politics also came to the Mass celebrated by pastor and dean Michael Mannhardt and deacon Andreas Marx.

As a funeral speaker, Zangenfeind and the former municipal council and SG chairman Andreas Stefan paid tribute to the services of Schreiber.

While the family then went to the cemetery for the burial, the association representatives met in the union building at the invitation of the municipality.

Zangenfeind will visit Schreiber's widow Marianne in the coming days to give her the books of condolence.

"It's become two now."
