The commander of the Iranian Navy, Admiral Shahram Irani, announced that the 84th Fleet of the Iranian Navy seized two US boats during a mission in international and free waters.
Mehr News Agency quoted an Iranian as saying in a statement today.
“The Army’s 84th Naval Strategic Force Group was able, with its strong presence in the depths of the oceans, especially in the Red Sea region, to carry out guarding operations, establish maritime security and seize two American boats.”
Irani stressed that his country will deal firmly with any step that endangers the security and safety of navigation in the region, calling on the United States to comply with international laws regarding safety of navigation.
