The Russian Defense Ministry announced that one of its fighters shot down a Ukrainian warplane during an air patrol in the coverage area assigned to it.
The ministry said in a statement published today that the crew of a Russian Su-30 fighter, while leading an air patrol consisting of a squadron of bombers, fighters and attack helicopters, spotted an enemy plane in the patrol area and shot it down.
It is noteworthy that the Su-30 fighters are able to command and direct air squadrons from a distance and represent an air command center during military operations thanks to their long-range radars.
