According to the police, around 80,000 people showed solidarity with the protests in Iran at a demonstration in Berlin.
There were significantly more participants than expected, said a spokeswoman for the authorities.
The organizers had initially assumed 50,000 people.
Already at the beginning of the demonstration, thousands of people from many parts of Europe had gathered at the Berlin Victory Column.
Berlin – After the beginning, crowds of people flocked to the protest march from all directions.
The police spoke of a “predominantly trouble-free” course.
At the start of the event, pyrotechnics were ignited, later there were isolated smoke pots.
The demonstration in Berlin was registered by the "Woman* Life Freedom Collective", which wants to stand up against oppression and discrimination in Iran.
Numerous organizations supported the call.
The protests against the Islamic Republic and its authoritarian course of government have not stopped for five weeks.
