In the midst of a large audience that filled the theater of the House of Culture in Homs, the 20th Musical Culture Festival opened this evening.
The head of the Artists Syndicate, Mohsen Ghazi, noted in a statement to SANA reporter the importance of this festival, as it is one of the important titles issued by the city of Homs in the field of culture and arts, pointing out that the union continues to present art in its various forms in a sincere spirit with a society that loves culture and arts.
In turn, the artist Amin Roumieh, head of the Homs branch of the Syndicate of Artists, pointed to the musicians’ insistence on continuing their music festival, which was launched in 1989, to become today a milestone in the cultural scene in Homs, and a basic space for launching creative projects for artists who yearn for an authentic identity of the Arabic song and its addition to the human heritage.
For his part, Omar Houriya, Secretary of the Homs branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, indicated that the Homs Music Festival is one of the important festivals held by the Artists Syndicate branch, pointing to the special imprint of the city of Homs in the musical field, where many artists who founded the fine musical art were issued.
During the festival, the singer Anwar Semaan was honored and a short film was presented that included his biography and his lyrical artwork.
Samaan stressed that honoring him today, at the age of eighty, gives him a boost and reminds him of his days of participation in art festivals, pointing out that there are beautiful youthful voices today that need to be embraced and cared for in order to present beautiful art.
The Syndicate of Artists presented a musical concert for the great artists and composers presented by the artists Ammar Al-Abed and Iktal Hamati, in addition to improvisations on the violin for the festival's guest, artist Hadi Parsley.
The artist, Marwan Ghariba, the band's leader, expressed the happiness of its members for this festival, which they await with love and passion to present their music and songs that they have synthesized to present them with all professionalism and perfection in front of the gourmet audience of Homs.
It is noteworthy that the festival will last for six days, where the Mosaique band will present its musical evening tomorrow.
