Opinion "Big Brother" sees everything: "Gov Aryot" activists realize that they have turned from wanted to persecuted | Israel today

2022-10-23T16:50:44.121Z

After they did not account to anyone, the effect of the explosion in Nablus in which Tamer Kilani was killed makes the members of the organization realize that the rules of the game are changing • Whether it is a targeted assassination or not, they now know that they are permeable and vulnerable • But the blow they received may increase their motivation to carry out attacks

Like his friends from the organization, "Gov Aryot" activist Tamer Kilani recently started behaving as wanted.

Most of the time.

This happened when in Israel they increased the level of threats and activity against members of the organization with the intensification of the "Erin Alasud" phenomenon.

Kilani knew that he was in the sights of the Israeli security system, and therefore took precautions that included reducing contact and contact with associates and family members.

With the tightening of pressure from Israel, the members of the organization realized that they could no longer roam freely in the Kasbah neighborhoods of Nablus and externalize themselves and their actions as if there was no "big brother" who watches and sees everything.

This understanding is gaining validity today.

If at first the organizers acted openly, and did not hold anyone accountable, now after the explosion of the explosive on the motorcycle in which Kilani was killed in Nablus, the rules of the game are changing.

In the lion's den, they enter a new phase, and move to the defensive.

Up until now they have acted as wanted, invincible with overflowing levels of high self-confidence.

After the bomb explosion event, they become persecuted.

Regardless of whether Kilani was killed in an act of targeted elimination or not, the intensity of the event gave its signals and showed the organization's operatives that they were exposed and vulnerable.

If there is one major thing they learned from the explosion it is exactly this.

They are no longer impenetrable.

Everyone is a potential target for elimination, everyone is in the crosshairs.

No longer only arrests and operations that include surrounding wanted houses and raids accompanied by gunfights, but also "cleaner" operations without leaving fingerprints.

Many of them lived with the feeling that they were protected, and that the envelope of public support around them would keep them safe.

There are those who believe that the incident in Nablus may help deter the organization by making the members of the organization start calculating their steps and dare less, but at the same time something else is happening.

The desire for revenge is increasing, which may actually lead to the continuation of the escalation in the field and even to its expansion.

What has fueled the great anger is the claim by "Erin Alasud" that a collaborator assisted "in the Israeli assassination of Tamer Kilani".

Many Palestinians are convinced that this is a targeted sabotage carried out through an aide, and activists have issued calls to persecute those who are suspected of collaborating with Israel.

This could later lead to dramas like those seen in the first intifada where hundreds of Palestinians accused of aiding Israel were executed and lynched.

The organization suffered a blow not only because it lost one of its prominent "and talented" operators, but because it happened precisely at a time when it is trying to establish itself and its power.

The death of Khilani will not stop the motivation of the "Erin Alasud" activists to continue harming.

However, any motorcycle or even a peddler's cart that enters the Kasbah in Nablus from now on will immediately raise their suspicions and drive sleep from their eyes.

The "elimination" will even force them to invest more in maintaining their security and in actions to prevent the infiltration of helpers than in planning and carrying out terrorist attacks against Israel.
