Mexican authorities investigating the murder of a groom on his wedding day in Caborca, Sonora, suspect that it was a mix-up and that the gunman was actually going for another man who had married that same day in another city in that state. .
The Sonora Prosecutor's Office indicated this Monday on the social network Twitter that the attack outside the La Candelaria church that ended the life of Marco Antonio Rosales Contreras, 32, was executed "directly" and not by crossfire or A lost bullet.
"It was addressed to another person who on the same day got married in another city and who could be the motive for the attack," added the Prosecutor's Office, which does not, however, rule out other lines of investigation and continues to carry out criminal and ballistics expertise.

Rosales Contreras, a native of Durango and a resident of Guadalajara, was leaving the church hand in hand with his girlfriend when an armed man shot him.
At least four bullets hit him.
He died while being taken to a hospital, according to authorities.
The groom's sister, Michelle Adriana Rosales Contreras, 23, was shot in the back.
The bride was uninjured.

The images of the attack went viral on social networks, where users were dismayed by the insecurity in Caborca.
“There is no greater reason for a mood of psychosis, you have to have the normal care that you have in any other city.
The first lines of investigation indicate that it was an attack specifically directed against the person who unfortunately lost his life,” the governor, Alfonso Durazo Montaño, tweeted.
The killer fled on foot and has not yet been located.
The Prosecutor's Office has not revealed his identity or his possible motive.
The incident occurs amid an uptick in violence in Sonora, with a rise in 2021 of more than 30% in the homicide rate compared to the previous year.
It also happens days after a dramatic video went viral on social media of a teacher calling her elementary school students to calm down during a shooting outside her school in the community of El Empalme.
