With professionalism and high performance, not without providing new musical experiences, the students of the Mahmoud Al-Ajjan Institute for Music presented themselves to the audience of the forum, which bears the name of the institute in its fourth session, and is currently hosted by Dar Al-Assad for Culture in Lattakia.

During the evening of the third day, the Oriental Takht Ensemble and the polyphonic choir at the Institute presented the audience of Dar Al-Assad for Culture with a musical evening titled “Stations from East and West.”

The evening was opened by the band's students with a set of famous musical pieces such as "The Gypsy Dance", "Zaman Al-Nahwand", "Light of the Spirit", "Sirtu Sultani Bekah" and "Tahmil Ajam Asheran".

The choir presented, in different international languages, a group of the most famous Italian, Greek and Russian traditional songs, in addition to a number of international classical melodies in English.

The supervisor of the evening and the head of the Solfege Department at the Institute, Elias Samaan, explained in a statement to SANA reporter that the evening was distinguished by the combination of the oriental takht, which relied on one instrument of each type of basic instruments, which requires a great maturity of the player on the individual level, group playing at the same time and the choir. Composed of 60 members divided into four vocal classes according to international divisions, they perform world heritage songs in different languages, with choir distribution.

He pointed to the high skills offered by the polyphonic choir, which represented a new experience for young people under 17 years old, who are able to reach musical maturity and an advanced level in singing and voice tuning, in addition to listening skills, creating a spirit of composition among students, and providing musical additions.

Samaan stated that the forum allowed the institute's students to come out with five musical evenings, which were distinguished by the diversity of their musical styles and heralded a great musical future for the students.

The second evening of the Forum carried a new musical style for the audience of Lattakia, which came under the title "Tango Light", during which the students performed instrumental plays of the most famous pieces of tango, most of them by the famous Argentine composer "Astor Piazzola".

The evening, which came under the supervision of the two professors at the Institute, Batoul Kafa and Majd Younes, is considered the first of its kind to be presented on a stage in the city of Lattakia, according to Younes, who explained that the audience used to tango as a dance, but today we present it to tango as instrumental music in the hope that it will receive acceptance, interaction and the ability to reach with them to The real worlds of this music.

Younes pointed out that the students who went out to the theater in the evening with only stringed instruments of violin, viola, cello and double bass, and accompanied by piano, were very enthusiastic during the rehearsals that lasted for more than four months and worked hard to present tango as a western dance music that has a lot of vitality and harmony that makes people interact with it.

The forum, which started last Monday, will continue until next Saturday.
