Syria reports explosions in Damascus and the south of the country.

The official news agency of Syria announced tonight (Thursday) that explosions were heard over Damascus.

According to the announcement, Syria's air defense systems intercepted "most of the missiles" in the vicinity of the capital.

Syria attributed the attack to Israel.

In a report by the news agency, it was stated that the equipment was damaged.

This is the third report of an attack this week.

A military source told the agency that "close to 00:30, the Israeli enemy launched a missile attack aimed at the occupied Palestinian territories, with the intention of hitting several positions around Damascus."

On Monday, Syria accused Israel of attacking in broad daylight.

Eyewitnesses reported explosions heard over the capital, which is not used to Israeli attacks at noon.

According to the official media, the air defense systems "intercepted several missiles" and one soldier was injured.

It was also reported that damage was caused as a result of the attack.

The previous attack, on the night between Friday and Saturday, also happened in the area.

According to the Syrian Organization for Human Rights, an opposition organization that operates from London, the city's international airport was attacked, along with a site for the production of Iranian drones. It was reported yesterday on the Saudi Al-Arabiya network that the attack damaged two warehouses where sensitive materials intended for transfer from Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon were damaged

. The transfer, according to the report, is entrusted to Hezbollah's Unit 4400, which works in coordination with Iran's Revolutionary Guards, which has reportedly been attacked several times by Israel in recent years.

The latest attacks attributed to Israel came after a lull of more than a month.

It is not clear whether during this period of time there were no significant arms shipments to Syria via Iran or if there were other reasons, such as the sensitive negotiations with Lebanon on the drawing of the maritime border.

Last week it was reported in the New York Times that Russia reduced its presence in the country, and transferred an S-300 air defense system in favor of the war in Ukraine.

The system was never transferred to the control of Assad's army or the pro-Iranian Shiite militias, but its deployment in the field posed a potential threat to Air Force aircraft.

In recent months, the attacks have focused on Syria's main airports - in Damascus and Aleppo in the north - in light of Iran's increasing use of the air route to smuggle weapons to the Assad regime and Hezbollah.

This follows the disruptions in the land supply lines used by Tehran in recent years.
