Two weeks before the midterm elections, which will be held on November 8 across the United States, the percentage of support for President Joe Biden is faltering - which worries the Democratic Party as the election approaches.

According to a new Gallup poll, the percentage of support for Biden is now 40%, a slight improvement compared to a low of 38% in July - but a significant decrease compared to the percentage of support of 44% recorded in August.

Although Biden himself is not up for election in November, the general dissatisfaction with the leader of the Democratic Party may have a negative impact on the way citizens who are debating whether to vote for Democratic representatives in a series of important and influential public positions make a choice.

According to Gallup, "President Joe Biden's approval rating is 40%, down from 44% in August, but up from a low of 38% in July. In all other months of 2022 so far, his approval rating has been 40-42%.

The poll conducted on October 3-20 also found that 56% of Americans are dissatisfied with Biden's performance, unchanged from September.

In July, a record 59% of Americans said they were dissatisfied with the president, while in August the figure was 53%."

The survey also shows that the percentage of support for Biden among Democrats is 85%, and among Republicans - only 4%.

39% of the politically independent were satisfied with the job Biden is doing, compared to 36% in January-September.

The data confirms that the popularity of the leader of the Democrats reached a peak in the summer against the background of a series of legislative achievements and a drop in fuel prices.

In general, Biden has been unpopular with voters for more than a year, amid high inflation and criticism of the nature of the withdrawal from Afghanistan.

This trend may negatively affect the Democrats' chances of maintaining critical control of Congress in the midterm elections, but many of the party's candidates for the various positions in the various states receive higher percentages of support than Biden.

This means that voters may be separating their view of the president from their preferences for the majority in Congress.

Against the background of these data, two new polls have updated their prediction regarding the Republican victory in the House of Representatives and raised the number of seats the party will add in the November elections: according to the Cook Political Report, the Republican Party will win 12-15 additional seats, compared to a previous poll that estimated that it was five Seats only.

A poll by the University of Virginia predicts that the Republicans will win seats in 2018 out of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives - the minimum number to win control.

Despite the uninspiring percentage of support and his advanced age, 79, Biden recently said that he "absolutely" intends to run for a second term in office in 2024.

In an interview with MSNBC, Biden, who will celebrate his 80th birthday on November 20, said that "I can't say how old I'll be. I can't say it. You think I'm joking. I'm not."

In recent months, Biden has been responsible for several gaffes and embarrassing mistakes that raise questions about his physical and mental health, given his age.

Yesterday he called the new UK Prime Minister "Rishi Sanok" instead of "Rishi Sunak".

A few days earlier, on the birthday of Vice President Kamala Harris, he said, "Congratulations to the great president" - a mistake he repeated several times before.
