The sea economy at the Poschinger Weiher in Unterföhring is closed due to insolvency.

The innkeeper wants to explain exactly how this came about.

Unterföhring

– The autumn leaves rustle between the beer tables, over which the green umbrellas are still stretched.

At the "Seewirtschaft" at the Poschinger Weiher in Unterföhring, it looks almost the same as always.

But: Since the beginning of this week, the popular excursion restaurant has been closed for good due to bankruptcy, even if landlord Stephan Kalis is still present every day.

He has to get rid of knocking guests, the 48-year-old only handles the insolvency proceedings.

This also includes taking a position on the criticism of the IHK: It reacted to the reporting in the Münchner Merkur and in particular to Kalis➔ accusation that he initially received no support during the Corona crisis.

Received EUR 180,000 in aid

“The 'Seewirtschaft' has submitted applications for financial support from the federal programs.

The IHK approved the company's applications for November and December aid, bridging aid III, III plus and IV and instructed them to be paid out," said the IHK press office for Munich and Upper Bavaria.

However, “costs that are not covered by the federal funding guidelines in the respective program had to be deducted from the funding amount”.

All in all, Stephan Kalis received around 180,000 euros in aid.

Stephan Kalis does not deny that these sums were paid.

"I'm grateful for every subsidy," says the restaurateur.

"The help came - but much, much too late!"

During the on-site interview with the Munich newspaper, the 48-year-old looks through the e-mails on his smartphone.

On December 10, 2020 and January 5, 2021, he submitted the applications for “November-.

and December Aid ", "in March I was informed that we were not a company damaged by corona".

Stephan Kalis then wrote an "open letter" to four politicians - as a result "an apology and advance payments came from the IHK in June and July".

A good six months later: “Seven months is a damn hard time.

By then, liquidity had long since been massively impaired.”

One day counted as monthly sales

A side detail: When the "lockdown light" took effect on November 2, 2020, Stephan Kalis had opened the "Seewirtschaft" for the last time on November 1 for one day: "But this one day was counted as a full monthly turnover." other aids (III, III plus and IV) there was "room for interpretation".

Conclusion of the insolvent landlord: “Due to the overload in the corona aid processes, fronts opened up that nobody wanted.

An awful lot has probably been cheated – honest entrepreneurs felt punished for it.”

First the corona crisis, then the consumer crisis caused by more economical guests, now bankruptcy: "We started here in 2020 debt-free, and I'm proud to have made the 'sea economy' corona fit in the meantime," says Stephan Kalis.

"But now it's over, there is maximum sadness on both sides - with me and the guests." MARTIN BECKER
