"The violent suppression of the protest against the regime in Iran and Tehran's supply of weapons to Moscow damage Iran's credibility as a strategic partner, and further reduce the chances of signing a nuclear agreement":
this is what European Parliament member Javier Zarzalhous from Spain, the critic, told Israel Hayom today (Sunday). These days in Israel.
The words of Zarzalhous, who belongs to the bloc of center-right parties in the European Parliament (EPP), come after sharp criticism expressed by officials in the American administration against Iran, according to which Tehran shows no sign that it is interested in a serious renewal of the nuclear talks and in reaching an agreement on the subject.
Meanwhile, Iran continues to move towards an operational nuclear capability and according to some estimates it can already be defined as a "threshold state".

Zarzalhous is co-chairman of the lobby for a free Iran in the European Parliament, and following what he and his friends said against the violent suppression of the protest, the Iranian regime imposed sanctions on them. According to him, "We were put on the blacklist also as a response to the two rounds of sanctions imposed by the Union on senior officials of the regime following the repression that were taken".
Zarzalhous noted that Iran is actively trying to harm exiled opposition activists who are staying in Europe: "Just this year, the court in Belgium sentenced to 20 years in prison an Iranian agent who tried to harm opposition activists in Paris. In addition, the court in Sweden is discussing charges against an Iranian agent who took part in the massacre of regime opponents In 1988 - an event in which the current president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, was also involved."
Zarzalkhus arrived in Israel as part of a delegation organized by the American Jewish Committee (AJC).
According to Lt. Col. (Res.) Avital Leibovitch, the organization's CEO, "Every year we bring to Israel dozens of delegations of government officials from about 70 countries, for the purpose of studying and getting to know Israel. This effort, which has existed since the 1980s, is which led to the visit of a delegation of members of parliament from the European Union who are staying in Israel this week, meeting key figures and touring the country."
