The People's Assembly affirmed Syria's continued support for the Palestinian people until their legitimate rights are fully restored.
The council said in a statement issued on the 115th anniversary of the ominous Balfour Declaration, a copy of which was received by SANA today: “This false promise was given to those who do not have to those who do not deserve, and it is a flagrant violation of the most basic values and standards of international law, and an explicit and clear attack on all rules related to the Shariah of Human rights and international humanitarian law.
The Council considered that what is happening today in Palestine is a reflection of the repercussions of this promise that Britain gave to the global Zionist movement on November 2, 1917, through its then Foreign Minister Arthur Balfour, which included the establishment of a national home for the Jews on the land of Arab Palestine, where the Palestinian people would be subjected to the harshest forms of oppression. And aggression through Zionist practices through plans for Judaization and forced displacement, demolishing homes over the heads of their Palestinian residents, and confiscating their lands in continuous and brutal attempts by the usurping entity to subjugate the Palestinians and thwart any efforts to reach a solution to the Palestinian issue.
The statement stressed that the Palestinian cause has always been Syria's first central issue, and this explains to the whole world the reasons for the fierce aggressive terrorist attack, and the ensuing unjust economic measures unilaterally by some Western countries, led by the United States, which included various aspects of the life of the citizen in Syria During the past years and until now, in desperate attempts to destabilize its firm, principled positions on this issue, stressing the inevitability of victory and the restoration of all our lands no matter how severe the tribulations and calamities are, and that what happened in Syria is closely linked to the essence of this conflict, and falls within a continuum of the existential battle with the Zionist enemy that occupies The Syrian Arab Golan.
