Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said this evening (Wednesday) that despite the election results, Turkey wants to maintain sustainable relations with Israel based on common interests and respect for the sensitivities of each of the parties.
"As long as our values are respected - Turkey, Israel and the whole region will benefit," Erdogan said.
During Benjamin Netanyahu's previous term, Israel-Turkey relations knew ups and downs, and in the last years of his term between 2018 and 2021, relations between the countries were in a serious crisis.
Immediately after Netanyahu left the position of Prime Minister, Erdogan began to initiate talks with Israel, which matured after a year into the normalization of relations between the countries.

Last Thursday, five days before the elections, Defense Minister Benny Gantz met with Erdogan in the capital Ankara.
"At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Defense thanked the President of Turkey for the actions that the Turkish security agencies have taken and are taking to save the lives of Israelis and Jews from the local community in Turkey," it said.
"This activity against terrorism has great significance for the ability to strengthen cooperation and renew the official security relations between the countries."
Gantz's office stated that "at the meeting, the two discussed a series of strategic issues, and the commitment of the two countries to work for stability, prosperity and security in the Middle East and the eastern Mediterranean."
