On his way to the presidential election of 2027, Édouard Philippe intends to stop by the Senate.
Not that the former prime minister plans to sit there.
Instead, he imagines sending his friends there.
A group of at least ten elected Horizons in the “assembly of the territories”, in September 2023: the scenario makes the mayor of Le Havre dream, he who promises to
“expand”
and
“root”
the presidential majority with his assembly of 400 mayors.
"It interests him, he wants to participate in this campaign
," says one of his relatives.
With less than a year to go, the senatorial elections are already arousing covetousness in the presidential camp.
Macronist strategists are approaching this fortress of the Senate with caution, which they have always struggled to besiege, for lack of “grand electors” – these local elected officials called to the polls – in sufficient numbers.
