Tropical Storm Lisa intensified into a Category 1 hurricane in the western Caribbean as it headed for the coast of Belize in Central America.
And the Associated Press quoted the US National Hurricane Center as saying that the wind speed was 130 kilometers per hour, with its epicenter 90 kilometers southeast of the city of Belize.
Hurricane Belize is expected to cross into northern Guatemala and then toward southeastern Mexico on Thursday.
The center warned of the occurrence of floods and mudslides due to heavy rains.
