The organic waste could be used to generate energy in the Dachau district in the future.

Dachau – Those responsible in the district committees of Dachau, Fürstenfeldbruck and Landsberg have been dealing with the issue of organic waste for years.

Experts have always come to the conclusion that the amount of organic waste produced in the individual districts is not sufficient to operate a fermentation plant economically.

The organic waste from Dachau has therefore been brought to Eitting in the district of Erding for years, where it is used to generate electricity and heat.

Common cause with the districts of Landsberg and Fürstenfeldbruck

But now the signs have changed.

Together with the Landsberg and Fürstenfeldbruck districts, it could be possible to set up your own energy production plant.

The Dachau district office will send a letter to all mayors of the district asking for support in finding the property.

Similar letters are also sent in the other two counties.

In the future, it would be advantageous to process this waste in the region and to make the energy generated usable in the Dachau district, the letter says.

Especially with a view to the current energy crisis and the uncertain future in this area, a contribution could be made to the security of supply for the district citizens and to the energy transition in the district, it is said.

Feeding into district heating networks

The energy generated in the plant could be fed into existing district heating networks or into the natural gas network.

According to experts, around 40,000 tons of organic waste per year would be needed to operate an economically viable plant.

The estimated investment sum is around 43 million euros.

The plot of land you are looking for should ideally be around 2.3 hectares in size and around 600 meters from the nearest residential area.

In addition, it should be easily accessible by public transport.

175 tons of biowaste are delivered every day.

That corresponds to about 26 truck arrivals.
