Today, the Canadian Forces announced the death of one of its officers in mysterious circumstances in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
The Canadian Forces were satisfied with saying in a statement published on their official page on Twitter: that Captain Eric Cheung, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, died last Saturday in circumstances “unrelated to the battlefield,” without clarifying what these circumstances were and more details, pointing out that the Canadian Forces are conducting an investigation into circumstances of death.
Cheung was an operations officer at the 38th Canadian Brigade Group Command headquarters in Winnipeg, Manitoba and works in Baghdad as the Executive Officer of the Strategic Communications Directorate for Combined Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve.
Earlier today, an American was shot dead by gunmen who targeted his car on Al-Sina'a Street in central Baghdad.
