Kenya Airways has again canceled dozens of flights today as its pilots continue to go on strike for the third day in a row.
The Kenyan airline was quoted as saying that it canceled 56 flights over the weekend, affecting 12,000 passengers, and total losses were estimated at $2.4 million per day as pilots and staff of the Kenyan national airline continued their strike.
The Kenya Airline Pilots Association is demanding the re-establishment of a retirement savings plan fund with immediate effect, calling for the airline's top management to be fired, accusing it of mishandling the labor dispute.
In turn, the management of the Kenyan airline refused to negotiate with the pilots until they resume work.
Kenya Airways incurred financial losses before and during the coronavirus pandemic, prompting its management to suspend contributions to the employee retirement fund, saying the airline could not afford it.
