New York, SANA- Moscow has expressed its dissatisfaction with the unconvincing methods of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in the use of chemical weapons

New York-Sana

Moscow has expressed its dissatisfaction with the unconvincing methods of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in dealing with the "chemical file" in Syria, warning of the deterioration of the organization's reputation if it does not correct its mistakes.

The Russian Deputy Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, said during today’s Security Council session on the chemical file in Syria: “We are still categorically not satisfied with the methodology of the Technical Secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, which relies in its investigations on information from biased sources opposed to the government,” RIA Novosti news agency reported. It collects its data from a distance and accordingly draws conclusions in a high probability method, giving importance to imagination to obtain compelling evidence.”

Polyansky stressed that these methods are "inconclusive", and directly violate the principles of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, stressing that the organization adopts double standards in addition to the ineffectiveness of its "retroactive investigations."

Polyansky warned that the deterioration of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons would become irreversible without it correcting the mistakes and stopping the flagrant violations it was committing.

Polyansky pointed out that the refusal of the Director-General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to address the UN Security Council as requested by the current President of the Council, Ghana's representative at the United Nations, was expected, because he feared that he would publicly bear responsibility for the flagrant violations committed by the technical secretariat of the organization that he heads.

Polyansky criticized the Director-General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons' failure to respond so far to Russia's questions regarding these violations, which it addressed to him since December 2020.

Syria's permanent representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, had confirmed earlier that the frantic pursuit of Western countries, and their insistence on holding Security Council sessions on the chemical file in Syria, to repeat the same accusatory narratives is unacceptable, and is not commensurate with the duty that it was more useful to hold sessions on the results. The catastrophic measures imposed by these countries on Syria.
