The Municipality of Tel Aviv-Jaffa is taking another step in its war against the illegal riding of scooters and electric bicycles on sidewalks, pedestrian walkways and bicycle paths, in violation of the law, with the aim of restoring safety to pedestrians and maintaining the safety of all road users.

To that end, as of this week, the Tel Aviv-Yafo municipality said, the number of inspectors enforcing prohibited riding offenses has been doubled, while incorporating the urban security patrols trained for the task.

Enforcement is carried out through the distribution of fines and the seizure and confiscation of the tools.

In addition to this, enforcement efforts will be concentrated in the morning hours near educational institutions in order to protect schoolchildren and their parents arriving at the institutions and to prevent prohibited riding by minors under the age of 16.

Mayor of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Ron Huldai: "We are happy that bicycles and scooters have become a real alternative to the private car and a usable and available means of transportation, and that their use is only increasing. However, the city's sidewalks are intended first and foremost for pedestrians and they are not empty. We cannot accept Phenomena of wild and illegal driving that endangers pedestrians and the riders themselves. I have ordered to double the number of inspectors and rangers who will enforce the prohibited riding of scooters and electric bicycles throughout the city and will place emphasis on centers where the friction between road users is particularly dangerous. The safety of pedestrians is in the first place! And we We will not let up until personal security is restored to all road users."

To raise awareness of the issue, the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Jaffa will establish, starting today, a dedicated complex in HaTarbut Square, near Havhima, where there will be a facility to store the electric tools that will be seized starting this week when traffic offenses are committed.

The facility is placed in a central location in the city to emphasize the significant activity of the municipality and create deterrence.

We will remind you that the municipality has the authority to enforce that riding is prohibited on the sidewalk, and starting about two months ago, riding is also prohibited on bicycle paths.

Any enforcement of prohibited riding on the road is the responsibility of the Israel Police.

The fine for riding on the sidewalk is about NIS 250.

In addition, the payment of the fee for the release of a confiscated tool is NIS 252.5.

It should be noted that the release of tools confiscated from a minor (under the age of 16) will only be possible by the minor's parent and that the return of seized tools will only be possible the day after the payment of the fee.
