2022-11-08T19:55:42.613Z

This is a significant jump compared to 2021, in which 76 Palestinians were killed in the activities of the IDF in the territories, and 20 killed during 2020. The army claims that only in a few cases are people not involved in terrorism. In the background, the army is proud of its achievements in border security and announces a new battalion to secure him

Since the beginning of 2022, 129 Palestinians have been killed by security force fire throughout Judea and Samaria.

This is a significant increase compared to the previous year, during which only 76 Palestinians were killed, and compared to 2020, during which 20 Palestinians were killed.

Out of the total number of those killed this year, 29 of them came from Jenin, 26 from Nablus, 15 from the Etzion Regional Division area and ten from the Benjamin area.

The senior officers in the sector referred to these data, saying that only in a few cases were people not involved in terrorism, adding that the incidents are being investigated.

The IDF rejects the claims that there is a fear of carrying out activities in the Jenin refugee camp and noted that since March the security forces have operated more than thirty times in the refugee camp and more than forty cases in the entire area.

In addition, officers in the Central Command claim that the security of the seam line in Judea and Samaria, with an emphasis on the Menashe and Ephraim spatial division area, is proving itself.

To substantiate this claim, they cite as an example the price of a 5.56 mm bullet, which now costs 16 shekels, compared to eight shekels last year - which indicates that the bullet is becoming less and less accessible, since security has led to a decrease in smuggling.

So far, two kilometers of wall have been built in the Jenin area, and according to the officers, two engineering "chiefs of work" will soon be added to speed up the construction of the wall and the fence in two main locations: Hetmar Ephraim and Hetmar Menashe.

They estimated that by August 2023, 50 km of work will be completed. "This is a dramatic engineering step since it will finally cut between Jenin and Umm al-Fahm and the surrounding area, preventing terrorism, but also criminal activity, which mainly includes the smuggling of weapons, ammunition and drugs." In addition, at the IDF General Headquarters, it was decided to establish a new battalion of male and female fighters, whose number will be 44, and which will operate in the Yosh Division along the seam line, similar to the activity of the battalions on the Egyptian and Jordanian borders.

It was also decided to pass a special budget for the personal protection of the troops and to purchase a hundred new military posts, which will be scattered along the seam line for the winter, against the background of the complaints of the fighters in the field about poor conditions and protection problems with an emphasis on the points of friction, and the passage of illegal residents.

It was also decided to purchase dozens of armored vehicles for the forces to prevent traveling in 'light' and unprotected vehicles, and this out of fear of shooting and friction attacks that may increase as the work on the wall and the fence along the seam line progresses.

In addition to this, the IDF accelerated the engineering work in the area of the Yehuda Citadels, in the area of the Nahal Brigade's recruit base and Tel Arad, in order to deal with the smuggling of furniture, ammunition, stolen vehicles and the passage of weapons from Judea and Samaria to Israel. As part of the engineering project, up to Along 15 km of roads along which forces that arrest smugglers move, two military outposts were established and placed in the area of radar
