Cheerful tunes danced with the emotions of the audience to take them to various musical worlds during a musical evening performed by the musician Bassem Salha this evening on the drama stage at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts.
“Musical Worlds on the Clarinet” was the title of the musical evening that Salha led on the clarinet, with the participation of a number of musicians, namely Hoshank Habash on the saz, Ragheb Jbeil on oriental percussion, Maher Shrouf, bass guitar, Imran Abu Yahya Perksion, Faris Al Dahan drums, Ali Suleiman on piano keyboard and Osama Abu Saada Oud, and Mahmoud al-Aqel was hosted on the trombone and Maher Amer on the mazur, a Moroccan traditional instrument.
In its program, the evening blended multiple artistic cultures to pick from each flower orchard, where Western and Arabic music attended with a harmonious variety and delicate sense, and the famous Western instruments were orchestrated to play oriental and traditional melodies.
In his interview with SANA, Salha explained that the evening included a group of musical pieces from various eastern and western cultures, which he distributed in a way that suits the oriental melodies, such as “Dolab Bayati,” a folklore heritage composed by Mustafa Kandari and “Kuzin, whose origin is Greek.”
It also included a selection of Kawkab Al Sharq’s works composed by Riyad Al-Sunbati and the piece “Longa Kawthar Hashem” by Jamil Bek Al-Tanbouri, in addition to a duet of clarinet and trombion by his own preparation, as well as the “Love” painting, which is variations on Baligh Hamdi’s melody, to conclude the evening with “Kard Dance” from the ancient heritage.
Salha referred to the artistic message of the evening, which revolved around the development of traditional folklore and its distribution in a modern way, while preserving the oriental imprint in the melody and allowing the personal artistic imagination of the musician to fly in the spaces of musical creativity and practically apply it on the stage.
