Apple Music names Bad Bunny as the artist of the year 2022: "His influence in all corners of culture cannot be ignored"

 Bad Bunny not only leads the nominations for the Latin Grammy Awards and the American Music Awards 2022. Apple Music announced this Wednesday that the Puerto Rican interpreter is its artist of the year 2022 and the first Latino to receive the distinction .

"A summer without you" is the album that takes Benito Martínez Ocasio, the artist's first name, to the top of Apple Music this year.

Not only was it the most streamed album on the platform this year, it is also the biggest Latin album of all time, Apple Music said in a statement.

"We are thrilled to celebrate the achievements of Bad Bunny, whose influence on every corner of culture cannot be ignored in 2022," Oliver Schusser, Apple's vice president of Apple Music and Beats, said in a statement shared with CNN.

For his part, Bad Bunny thanked his followers for helping him make a name for himself in the Latin music sector.

"I'm grateful for everything I've accomplished and everything I've been through. The Latin music movement has grown so much. I would never take all the credit or say, 'It's because of me.' No, it's each one of us. A whole generation. Our energy and presence are always felt," the Puerto Rican said in a statement.

In just 4 years, Bad Bunny went from being presented as an emerging artist by Apple Music, including him in 2018 in his Up Next program, to being the most listened to by users of that platform.

In 2018, Apple Music already recognized the ease of the Puerto Rican to fuse sounds with reggaeton and trap, and take them to a global stage.
