Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, which was shot down over Ukraine in July 2014, was hit by a Russian-made Buk missile fired from a field in eastern Ukraine, a court in the Netherlands ruled today (Thursday), confirming the conclusions of the Dutch Safety Council's report.
All 298 passengers and crew members on the plane, which departed on July 17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, perished in the crash.
The court also ruled that Russia had control over pro-Russian separatist forces in the region at the time.
The Dutch court is preparing its ruling in the case of four men linked to Russia, who were accused of mass murder for their involvement in the plane explosion.

The Russian Foreign Ministry said in response that it would "examine" the Dutch court's decision.
At a briefing in Moscow, Foreign Ministry Deputy Spokesman Ivan Nechav told reporters that "we will study the decision because in such issues, all the smallest nuances are important. After we study the legal document, we will be ready to respond."
Moscow denies responsibility for the downing of the plane.
In 2019, the Dutch authorities decided to prosecute three Russian citizens and a Ukrainian citizen on charges of murder due to their alleged involvement in the downing of the plane.
The international investigation team, which was led by the Netherlands, said that the accused are Sergey Dubinsky, Oleg Poletov and Igor Girkin from Russia;
And Leonid Kharchenko from Ukraine.
