"Wetten, dass..?" premiered an unbelievable 41 years ago.

But even if the ZDF show is a cult, voices are slowly being raised that it is no longer up to date.

Thomas Gottschalk and his sayings in particular cause trouble among TV viewers.

Friedrichshafen - On Saturday (November 19, 2022) the time had finally come: "Wetten, dass..?" flickered across the home TV screens again - with Thomas Gottschalk, of course, present.

But the cult presenter couldn't really convince his TV viewers.

Probably also because of the way he speaks to his co-moderator Michelle Hunziker.

"Wetten, dass...?": Robbie Williams as godfather for spectacular game bet

Personalities from TV and television, international mega-stars and World Cup players: On Saturday, Thomas Gottschalk was once again able to welcome top-class stars.

In addition to Michael Bully Herbig and Veronica Ferres, Robbie Williams also took a seat on the famous couch - and was allowed to participate as a betting sponsor right after his performance.

Holger Siebnich bets that he only recognizes board games by the sound they pour out.

Robbie Williams firmly believes in the newspaper editor.

His bet: If he is wrong, he must wish the German national soccer team all the best for the World Cup.

However, the TV audience did not remember Holger Siebnich's incredible hearing, but Thomas Gottschalk's sexist saying.

See-through dresses and passionate kisses: "Bet that...?" scandals

Music is just as much a part of "Wetten, dass...?" as Thomas Gottschalk and of course the crazy bets.

However, the musical performances sometimes caused scandals.

In 2002, Sarah Connor caused outrage among the ZDF audience.

The singer sang her hit "From Sarah with Love" and wore a dress by Bremen fashion designer Sigrid Schumacher.

In the headlights, however, the dress appeared transparent.

To this day it is unclear whether Sarah Connor wore skin-colored underpants or not.

The following year, the Russian duo tATu made headlines with their "Wetten, dass...?" performance.

The two singers kissed passionately on stage.

Too much for ZDF.

During the kiss, the station showed a tracking shot in the hall and only showed Yelena Katina and Yulia Volkova again when they continued singing.

"Miss, you can clean up": Thomas Gottschalk dissed Michelle with a sexist slogan

Holger Siebnich causes amazement with "Wetten, dass...?" and actually recognizes the first board game only by the pouring noise.

Michelle Hunziker already has the second game to hand and takes the first again.

"Miss, you can clear it up," said Thomas Gottschalk less gallantly to his co-moderator.

She takes it with humor, smiles, nods and replies: "Thank you, thank you!".

Unfortunately, the big TV comeback of "Wetten, dass..?" didn't go as smoothly as many had hoped.

Because Thomas Gottschalk attracted attention with a questionable saying to Michelle Hunziker.

Thomas Gottschalk probably knows himself that the saying was not appropriate.

"Did he really say that?!" he sarcastically asks his audience, who finally fight back a few tortured laughs.

By the way: Holger Siebnich won his bet.

On the net, the TV audience is less merciful.

"Out of time" is the tough verdict of the Wetten, dass..?" viewers.
